From her remarkable appearances at Cannes last year in the floral Dolce and Gabbana fairy tale like gown and her trend-evolving nose piece and burgundy lip worn with her Anamika Khanna saree … Sonam Kapoor was definitely my most awaited b-town big wig to walk the red carpet at the 67th annual Cannes film festival.

#FABLIST: Sonam Kapoor sizzles at Cannes 2014

In Dolce and Gabbana – Cannes 2013

Throughout her appearances on the red carpet, parties and interviews at Cannes this year, Sonam was seen in three on-point styles of Elie Saab dresses and a beautiful Anamika Khanna piece. Although, I loved all of her looks, I had two particular ones that I wanted to share with all of you:

In Elie Saab

She made a grand first appearance at the ‘Homesman’ premiere in this lovely black Couture gown. A lady with great red carpet presence, poise and confidence; only Sonam would style this gown with a Hollywood vintage fake bob. She wore the perfect Chopard earrings that complemented her bob and finished the look with a classic red lip. I absolutely loved how she flaunted ‘sexy back’ and the overall exaggerated emphasis and trail of the skirt. Like they say… you can no go wrong with black and of course Sonam just stepped it up a notch; making quite the empowering statement and raising the bar for all of her other appearances.

In Anamika Khanna

And she definitely did deliver one phenomenal look after another; my personal favorite was her breath-taking ‘desi girl’ touch in an Anamika Khanna contemporary ensemble that she wore to the ‘Foxcatcher’ premiere. With muted natural makeup and a mid-parted straight hair look, Sonam added accents of a rose gold Ferragamo clutch and Jimmy Choo heels, showing off a refreshing red carpet look. At first when I noticed the sheer cape like piece, I wasn’t too pleased but then I realized the design aesthetic and it’s to highlight the detailing of the lilac blouse worn underneath in a tasteful manner… yeap and I fell in LOVE. If I had to make a minor change to this look, I would choose a different necklace; it’s a gorgeous statement piece, however the gold is too bold for the overall look. I would maybe substitute it for a rose gold statement necklace or several strands of baby pink pearls.

Hope you all enjoyed my little pow wow on Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes looks… keep posted for Freida Pinto’s and Aishwariya Rai’s. Thanks for reading everyone! Xo. Va
