Every day so far for #7daysofsummer, I have flaunted a series of OOTD’s and last night I realized I should maybe do a few OOTN’s to balance this sequence of my personal style looks. Yesterday, I had posted a look that was based entirely on the aspect of color blocking and the styling that I had implemented was an extremely basic look for me to put together. (Plus, I was heading to work so I couldn’t go too crazy and make it all ‘Sonam’ infused) Personally, what I think struck out with yesterday’s OOTD were the pops of color and how cohesive and clean they looked together. Last night I went out for dinner with my bestie and I put together another look that just so happened to be all color infused. Hence, I was able to add a bit more personality to the look in comparison to yesterday and I didn’t have to adhere to a dress code policy 😉
With color-blocking, there are different tactics to consider. I abide with the common rule of thumb (matching shoes to the blouse, blazer, jacket, etc) and then an adventurous, complete self-expression route (no rules at all) Colors and funky, fun prints/patterns are the core of my personal style. When I am incorporating a combination of patterns/prints and more than one color into a look, I consider a few things: 1- what is the pattern/print and what colors are incorporated in that printed/patterned article of clothing. 2- what piece of clothing will remain a neutral color (white, beige or black) and 3 – what colors are on trend for the season, contrast with the colors on the pattern/printed article of clothing to help decipher what two pieces can complete the look with effortless, yet stylish appeal. . So of course this was a ‘self-expression’ look and with looks like such I keep the accessories minimal and let the outfit itself be that head spinner statement.
Before I break this bad boy down … let me just elaborate on these Mango inspired (as in the designer label lol), extremely comfortable and so cuties jeggings that I bought for $5!! HELLL YESSSS! Deals like these awaken the fashion enthusiast within me and allow me to justify “majority” of my purchases ;)As for my OOTN when I had picked out my navy blue striped jeggings, I knew instantly that I wanted to pair it with something orange – complementary to the blue. With that thought in mind, I figured I should decide on my neutral accent first. I threw on a white tank top and said out loud “Mehhh, typically expected. Black it is” Plus, black adds more interest! Now, I knew that I was going to incorporate my fabulous orange blazer… I absolutely LOVE this blazer of mine and cannot seem to get over it. I paired my outfit with peep-toe electric blue heels – creating a balance with the intensity of the orange, a desi girl touch with hot pink lipstick (hot pink and orange – traditional desi color combination) and a messy fish tail braid. Keeping the accessories to a minimal, like mentioned earlier I completed the look with a pair of dainty diamond shaped earrings, my watch and my specs for that extra spunk! That it. And it’s FRIIIDDAAAYYYYY!
Thanks for reading y’all! Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend everyone! Xo.
