I have just completed my first week of the 30×30 closet remix challenge and boy does it ever feel fantastic! Piecing together outfits from 30 pieces has obviously been the amusing portion and I am fully permitting my creativity to take first class seating with my current, minimized wardrobe and speak for itself 🙂 On the contrary, let me just throw out there that Alexander Wang’s designer collaboration with H&M hit stores worldwide yesterday, including OUR flagship location in Pacific Centre ands suddenly I don’t wanna talk about it! Ha-ha…But HELL YES, I have successfully gotten through the first week of NO SHOPPING and I think I deserve a cup cake! 🙂
A quick refresher on what the 30×30 closet remix challenge is?
Pick 30 pieces from your current existing wardrobe and for the 30 days of the month, create 30 outfits. The key is to be as creative, versatile and of course fashion forward as possible AND more significantly no personal shopping for 30 days.
Here are my first 7 days of the challenge:
I alternated the traditional ‘denim on denim’ look by mixing in my chambray shirt with dark grey denim. Utilized navy blue as a highlighting color as oppose to a neutral by tying in a printed abstract scarf and navy blue pumps. Mr. Sun was peeking, so I kept my shades handy and accessorized with a minimal touch.
Definitely chanelling my inner hipster with this look. I layered denim with a plaid crop top, emphasizing the chambray under layer. Adding more spunk to a casual look, I chose my leather panel leggings as my bottoms and color-blocked basic neutrals with a grey over-sized beanie and cognac booties. Finishing touches – specs, a statement necklace under my collar, dainty rings and Rihanna’s kick ass Viva Glam 2 lipstick.
My translation of the wearable ‘school girl’ look through the incorporation of my fur vest, pleater skater skirt and prominent accessories. To draw attention to the stripes of colors on my shirt – I left a few of the top buttons open, tucked the collars into my vest and threw on a bright red lip. N.O. – I was not cold.
The classic coordination of matching your top to your shoes – I chose navy blue’s paired with trouser bottoms. Added that oomph factor through an animal print under layer, red lip and statement necklace. This is an ideal work outfit for me for an eight hour shift!
Abiding the black tank and dark blue denim route – I tucked my tank top into my jeans and threw on my leather jacket to coordinate with the black pleather panels on my knees. Red is my favorite accent color with dark blue denim or black; with this look my Mcqueen scarf and a red lip was all that was needed. Finishing touches – jeans tucked into my peep-toe booties (styling tip – when your 5’1=P), a drop earring, pulled back hair and few statement rings
From point A-Z this morning I felt adventurous! I used my denim dress as under layer for my houndstooth skirt – creating the illusion of a tank top. My head wrap coordinated well with my ‘tank top’ and I have always loved the combination of blues with greys which is where the navy blazer and navy pumps kicked in. I threw on knee-high socks as it was cold and definitely added more oomph to my overall. Finally, I accessorized with a hand full of bangles, arm candy on the opposite hand and a statement necklace.
Starting with the basics – coordinated my pleather panel jeans, side-tucked with my burgundy tee. Keeping the palette VERY fall and neutral with this look, I incorporated a pop of beige with my fur vest and tie in my peep toe booties. Finishing touches – cuffed bottoms, hat, bold accessories
And that concludes Week 1 of 4 for my #30x30challenge. Not bad at all … my personal favorite look for this week was my Day 3 outfit. I love wearing skirts and dresses during this time of the year as there are countless options for fall essentials (boots, jackets, fur vests, scraves, head-wraps/beanies, etc…) to create on-point looks for the season. Plus, there are so many different tactics available for styling and experimenting, which I really appreciate.
What was your favorite look?! And what are some of your go-to essentials for fall?? Do share in the comments below! Thank you for reading my round-up, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Xo.
