YAY! I only have one more week left for this challenge and guess what?! … this little piggy has still not shopped! (Yeah .. I call myself little piggy because I am a teeny weenie person but my appetite and sweet tooth speak otherwise) Last week I was extremely occupied with this annual holiday project that I organize amongst my family and friends – Operation Xmas Child and perhaps that is the reason I didn’t taunt myself too much or even feel the need to stop 🙂 Quite frankly, at this point in time I feel pretty great about myself and I’m sure my bank account shares the same mutual feeling! Here are my looks for week 3:
An immense play on blues and blacks! … Starting with my basic black on black pairing with my leggings and crochet sweater. I gave life to the boring blacks by accenting with my cobalt blue trench and navy pumps. Spunk – statement necklace in neutrals of greys, whites and blacks, tucked my printed abstract scarf under the collars of my jacket and colored my lips with Heroine from MAC cosmetics.
I refer to this look as the ‘Two C’s’ – Comfy. Chic. I paired my trouser pants (cuffed bottoms and pulled past ankles to create illusion of joggers) with my burgundy basic tee with pleather panel, black sleeves. To really accentuate the burgundy, I coordinated more black into the look with my hat and peep-toe booties. Finishing touches – Animal printed scarf, watch and dainty bangles.
The classic t-shirt and jeans look glamourized with pleather panels on the knees, an oversized colored blazer and graphic imprint on the tee. To personalize the look I wore my specs, added in a hott pink lip, rolled up the sleeves to show off the print inside my blazer and wore statement bangles
My pretty girl-look for the week! I created the illusion of my fitted black sweater into an oversized appeal by pairing it over my printed skirt. The classic black and white ensemble needed an accent of some color; therefore I added some shabby highlights in burgundy – chunky scarf and socks. Finishing touches – prominent jewelry in silver and gun-metal.
This is my interpretation of a lazy look – a plain tank top tucked into a pair of well-fitted denim, heels matching my tank top and a tailored shorter jacket in an opposing color. I call it my lazy look as it takes a few minutes to put this look together… I usually wear my hair in a pony-tail or side braid, don’t need to worry too much about accessorizing as simplicity is key to this look and I can literally sleep in jeans! 😉
I incorporated a bit of print and color to the conventional denim shirt and leggings looks. This outfit definitely has the elements of an ideal casual look, although certain traits – leather panels on leggings, cut of the cardigan, the hat and the peep-toe booties gear more towards a much more chic take on casualty.
The conventional fitted dress + over-sized blazer – love how the colors are in sync and complement one another impeccably. The black booties and fringe infinity scarf make quite the bold statement. Finishing touches – Rolled up sleeves to highlight the prints, shades because I love sunny fall days, printed bangles on one hand, statement ring on the opposite hand and Heroine lips to emphasize the array of purple in the look.
This week’s challenge was a success… I incorporated my chambray shirt into just one of my looks and alternated with my other outfit options I had initially chosen. I felt this week I repeated the same shoes several times around and my last week’s challenge will be to use all my five pairs and repeat two other styles that I have not incorporated enough of throughout the 30 days. I cannot wrap by head around how fast this entire month has progressed and the fact that it is the last week of my challenge THIS WEEK! Where has time flown … keep posted and have a wonderful week everyone! Xo.
PS – I attended VALT 2014 (Vancouver Fashion Alternative Week for the first time on Saturday and boy did it ever feel amazing to not have to wear something from my alotted 30 pieces for this month. I took many pictures at the event and definitely will be doing a round-up of my alternative look from the event once I get my hands on the final edits!
