Ok extremely late on the New Years post but before I start my rant on my lessons of 2014; I just wanted to rationalize the ridiculous yet awesome pictures that I have chosen to include in this post. I hosted a last minute New Year’s theme party at my house on the first day of 2015 and let’s just say its going to be an annual tradition to throw a crazy theme party during the holidays now.
2014… where do I begin? It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride and extremely busy year. I learnt a handful of different lessons and here are the following that I would like to share with all of you: I learnt to balance – relationships, interests, work and the unexpected. Most importantly, I put aside a lot of my work to give priority to my parents and younger sibling as they are the most precious blessings of my life. YES – No form of success, fame or wealth can ever acquire for the price of your loved ones.
I also learnt about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. Life is too damn short to be anything but happy and not be around positive energy and friends that bring out the best in you. Your friends are your family of choice, choose wisely, say good-bye to all the debby-downers and keep the good ones close, real close. I’m extremely blessed to have a small circle of friends, but true friends. Quality over quantity always, its not a numbers game 😉
And finally … Live a little. The amount of times I made spontaneous decisions in 2014, I really can’t even recall but it was worth every minute and possibly the best decisions I could have made at that point in time. So … make those spontaneous decisions – (throw a Disco Inferno party last minute, dress like a Barbie Doll and get all your family and friends and family to join in on the fun!), eat whatever the hell you want and work it off later, re-live your childhood, apologize, express your feelings, buy that $300 Mickey Mouse saree and keep it real.
“New Year, New Me” is over-rated … I’m happy being me and staying true to myself but I will definitely say that this year is going to be rather different and even more rewarding and more of a blessing than the last. On that note .. thank you for the hardships, laughs, memories and a handful of lessons 2014. I’m game for 2015 and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for me!
