The most anticipated Bollywood hitch flick of the century was last weekend – Shahid Kapoor tied the knot with his Delhi cutie, Mira Rajput. Initially, the news of Shahid’s wedding had me heart-broken for a few hours as now I have one less man in B-town to fantasize about =| Although, I moved on rather quickly as the idea of a big phat Bollywood wedding with celebrity attendee’s who were certain to flaunt some innovative Desi outfits kept me at the edge of my seat and anticipating the date. Now, for those of you attending Indian weddings this summer and are in search for some much-needed outfit inspiration, you might quite fancy this post and catch on to some pointers that can transform your outfit from drab to fab. Let’s start with what the MR and MRS chose for their wedding and reception; followed by my three favorite ‘wedding approved’ looks carried by some of B-towns finest.
Shahid is quite the dapper fellow and has strong personal style game; thankfully from the looks of it so does his lady love. On their undersized wedding ceremony, Shahid wore a simple, printed cream-white sherwani suit; designed by one of his dearest designer friends, Kunal Rawal. While Mira wore a Anamika Khanna lehenga in a blush pink undertone, accompanied with plenty of glitz and glam sparkle; which complemented her hubby’s sherwani perfectly. The lehenga was of course gorgeous but what I personally LOVED was the little accent of green that she incorporated into her look with this mesmerizing statement necklace she wore.
As for the reception; Mira proved that less is sometimes more. Certainly creating a novelty trend for floral prints in Indian bridal wear, she wore a breath-taking Manish Malhotra lehenga in an ivory- cream combination accented with these brilliant, bold, cobalt blue flowers. AND of course her handsome beau looked a million bucks; suited in a black and white tuxedo with a bow-tie. They are seriously too cute and the fact that they are both quite stylish makes then even cuter. Talk about relationship goals! ❤
– KANGANA RANAUT –
That moment when B-towns style chameleon, Kangana Ranaut shows up in pretty girl curls wearing the simplest barbie pink shimmer saree and every Bollywood maven’s heart seriously just stops. What I personally love about this look is how Kangana manages to portray such an empowering statement perfect for any wedding through the most effortless means. Really stumped on what to wear to a wedding ladies, take some pointers from Kangana by wearing a beautiful colored saree fit for the current season and throwing on a gleaming statement necklace, paired with a be-dazzled clutch. Voila!
– SONAM KAPOOR –
Hello gorgeous! The women of every Fashionista’s hours chose a very refined yet oh so traditional Punjabi suit in a harmonious color duo of royal purple and forest green designed by Anuradha Vakil. The beauty of Sonam’s look is obviously the colors on her suit, alongside the fact that she stuck entirely to an Indian look with her stunning Jadau jewels, jhootis (traditional slippers) and she ditched her religious clutch for a cute pouch. What I love about punjabi suits is that they are possibly the comfiest alternative of party attire available in the Indian market and if done right like Sonam, you too can leave that everlasting statement 😉
– DIA MIRZA –
A tasteful print on print anarkali suit sported by the queen of sophistication. YES please. Dia Mirza made quite the captivating appearance in a Anita Dongre peach brocade, embroidered anarkali suit paired with a polka dot dupatta and exquisite emerald green Jadau jewelry set. Kudo’s to Dia for experimenting with prints and pairing a contrasting color of jewels; which definitely enhances her overall outfit. Simplicity and genius styling at its finest ❤
And that rounds up my personal favorite ‘wedding approved’ looks for the wedding of the century! Hopefully, some of these looks have given you some outfit inspiration for a wedding you are attending this year. I’m attending a wedding myself this summer and I will for sure be driving some inspiration from the star ladies above.
