#OOTN |#VFWSS16 Opening Gala

H O L Y . Do I ever feel bitter sweet bidding adieu to a week of murdering my closet, fathoming the talent of emerging and established designers from all corners of the world, relishing double layered poutines at 1am and mingling with Vancity’s finest inspiring artists. HELL YES – the SS16 season of  Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) was nothing short of spectacular and what better way to kick start an entire week of posts designated to my VFW style diaries and designer spotlights then one of my favorite outfits from the week.

Aside from the fact that I channeled all shades of F I E R C E with this look, I wore an article of clothing that is really dear to my heart. THIS – incredible high-low trench jacket purchased from the uber talented designer duo, commonly known to create matchless fairy-tale couture pieces and whom I personally refer to as my darling love bugs – PARVESH JAI. Their brand culture to ensure individuals feel beautiful in their garments definitely is ace as I truly felt like their ’empowering, cultivated attitude and evoking imagination’ muse when I rocked this piece of sheer brilliance at the opening gala. Now, this ‘you seriously need me in your life’ jacket belonged to their first collection that they showcased at VFW and also the season I met these lovely ducklings for the first time (like I said dear to my heart!) AND two years later now … these wonderful masterminds have opened up a novelty boutique space here in Surrey, BC – RAASLEELA by PARVESH JAI. Let’s just say that the timing to wear one of their ultra fabulous pieces could not have been more ideal …

Can I just take a moment to remark favorably on how Brandi Queen B – my hair and makeup artist completely slayed my canvas and effortlessly styled braid to perfection. Seriously though, scroll back up or down and take a look at my F L A W L E S S bold eyes and unconventional hair-style; it was beyond on fleek and alongside my outfit, the compliments that evening were endless. Can’t thank you enough Brandi for transforming me from average B to Sasha Fierce ❤ Moving along … well before VFW, I was convinced to wear a septum on the opening gala and that same instant I set my heart on a classic gold and black amalgamation. The base of my outfit – my amaaazing PARVESH JAI jacket made this look feasible and once I paired my black pants with sexy sheer panels alongside the jacket; the rest of look came together with ease. It only made sense to top off my OOTN with a sheer panel blouse, an over-sized statement belt, a bad-ass handbag + quirky Indian earrings (courtesy of Bombay Couture) and as my friend Singh Styles says “some serious weapons on my feet, that I might get arrested for” Now the real beauty of this look is that every single garment piece was recycled and ridiculously CHEAP. My blouse and pants I bought from Sirens years ago and they cost me …. brace yourself …. $19 together!

AND before I sign off, I leave you lovelies with some empowering words of what fashion means to me: I absolutely believe that any individual can create a statement with materialistic and expensive goods, but true individual style is when you can team up those expensive and inexpensive pieces together and make them look a million bucks.

Now that’s the real deal hey?. Good day my loves! Xo.

  1. Wow. This look is stunning and you are totally working it! I can feel your confidence through the pictures and that’s insanely difficult to do sometimes! Love love love your fierceness here! So inspiring:)

    • Awwww. Such kind and empowering words girly … thank you so much! I totally feel attitude and style go hand in hand .. yes my hair, makeup and overall outfit was ridiculously FIERCE this day but how one chooses to carry the look is really what makes the outfit that much more a neck breaker statement. What say?
